Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 9, 2026 ยท This policy is short because we collect very little.
What Purr collects, and why
- Your location is used only to show the map around you and to place pins where you drop them. It is never uploaded on its own, never tracked in the background beyond the geofence alerts you opt into, and never shared with anyone.
- Cat pins you share (description, location, optional photo, spot notes) go to Purr’s community database so other users can see them. Pins carry no name, username, or profile โ nothing on the map identifies you to other users.
- Photos are stripped of embedded metadata (including GPS) before upload.
- Sign in with Apple is used only when you choose to share content. We store an anonymous identifier and, if you allow it, your first name โ shown only to you.
- Lost-cat posters may include contact information you type in yourself, shown publicly on the poster by your explicit choice.
- Tips are processed entirely by Apple. Purr never sees payment details.
What Purr does not do
- No ads. No trackers. No analytics SDKs. No data sales, ever.
- No precise-location history: a shared pin is a single point you chose to publish. Pins for cats wearing collars or tags are automatically blurred to roughly a city block.
- No reading of your photo library beyond the photos you pick.
Community safety
Shared pins can be reported by any user and are hidden automatically when several people agree. You can block another spotter at any time, which hides everything they have posted from your device. Before a photo is shared, Purr checks on-device for people caught in the frame and asks you to decide.
Deleting your data
In the app: Me โ Privacy โ Delete My Account & Data. This removes every pin and poster you have shared from the community database, wipes all local data, and signs you out. It is immediate and irreversible.
Children
Purr does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Pins are anonymous, and the app contains no chat or direct messaging.
Contact & changes
