Sisyphus is built to leave you alone with your boulders. It has no accounts, no ads, no trackers, and no analytics — and it collects nothing about you. This page explains that in plain terms.

The short version

We do not collect, see, sell, or share any of your data. Sisyphus has no servers of ours for your information to travel to. Everything you enter — your boulders, pushes, rest days, and settings — stays on your device. The App Store privacy label reads “Data Not Collected”, and it means it.

Your data stays with you

All of your content is stored locally on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, Sisyphus syncs it privately across your own Apple devices using Apple’s CloudKit private database — the same mechanism Apple provides to every app. That data lives in your personal iCloud account. We cannot see it, and neither can anyone else. If you are not signed in to iCloud, the app simply keeps everything on the one device.

No accounts, no tracking

There is no sign-up and no login. Sisyphus contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. It does not use the advertising identifier, does not build a profile of you, and does not track you across apps or websites. There is no AI, and nothing you write is used to train anything.

Widgets

The home-screen and lock-screen widgets read the same data as the app from a shared container on your device, so the mountain on your lock screen matches the one in the app. Nothing about widget use leaves your phone.

Notifications

The optional “Words from the mountain” — an evening nudge and a morning-after greeting — use local notifications only: scheduled on your device, by your device, at a time you choose. There is no push server, and enabling them sends no information anywhere. Turn them on or off any time in The Absurd.

Purchases

Sisyphus is free, and every feature is free. The Agora sells three optional cosmetic thank-yous (a hat, a cape, a marble boulder), handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your name, card, or payment details — only Apple’s confirmation that a purchase completed, so the app can dress the man accordingly.

Siri & Shortcuts

If you push a boulder by voice, the request is handled by Apple’s App Intents framework on your device. Your boulder names are exposed to the system only so Siri can match what you said — they are not sent to us (we have nowhere to send them).

Deleting your data

Delete any boulder (and its whole history) from its detail page. Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device. To remove synced data from your own iCloud as well, go to Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage and delete Sisyphus’s data there.

Children

Sisyphus does not knowingly collect information from anyone, children included — it doesn’t collect information at all.
